How do I become a mentor?

In order to become a mentor with ALC, you will need to register with ALC using the link Register as a Mentor. ALC will process your information and contact you as soon as a match has been found.

How do I become a mentee?

In order to become a mentee with ALC, you will need to register with ALC using the link Register as a Mentee. ALC will process your information and contact you as soon as a match has been found.

What happens when I register?

After you complete the registration process, ALC will study your submitted information and try to locate a match for you based on your criteria and availability in our database.

How can I help ALC achieve its mission?

You can help ALC in many ways:

  • By spreading the word about ALC;
  • By planting a seed of leadership;
  • By engouraging your organization to built a partnership with ALC;
  • By becoming an ALC representative in your community;
  • By volunteering with ALC.

  • How does one evaluate the success of a mentoring relationship? How often should this be done?

    A mentoring relationship should be evaluated on a periodic basis. ALC will provide formal tools for mentors and mentees to provide feedback on the relationship on a regular basis. Informally, mentors are also encouraged to ask mentees for feedback to ensure that they are meeting expectations.

    How many hours a week do I have to commit to the mentoring program?

    Typically, the average mentoring relatioship requires a minimum of one hour per week according to the availability of both parties. However, it is best practice to establish the expectations in terms of time availability early in the relationship.

    What if my mentoring relationship does not work for me?

    You will be asked periodically to provide formal feedback on the mentoring relationship. If the mentoring relationship does not work for you, ALC will do its best to find another match for you.
